Elgin’s Parks and Recreat ion Department teamed up with the North Bastrop County Fire Rescue team to send out a little bit of care this past weekend.

Local firefighters, city workers and Elgin’s youth handcrafted some valentines for notional nonprofit organization Cards for Hospitalized Kids.

“It was a great time, the community really came out,” said local rescue worker Jacob Lopez.

CFHK spreads hope, joy and magic through creative cards and crafts for hospitalized kids across America. Over 500,000 kids have been uplifted since the group’s inception, according to the program.
