Five seats on the Elgin City Council and two on the Elgin Independent School District board of trustees are set to expire in May.
Races set for May elections

Five seats on the Elgin City Council and two on the Elgin Independent School District board of trustees are set to expire in May.

On the Elgin City Council, the Mayor-at-Large currently held by Theresa McShan, along with Ward 1 held by Joy Casnovsky, Ward 2 held by Chuck Swain, Ward 3 held by Al Rodriguez and Ward 4 held by Sue Brashar, who is also the mayor pro tem, are all up for election.

McShan, Casnovsky and Swain have all filed for re-election and will run unopposed.

Rodriguez has also filed for re-election, and will face Taylor Christian for the seat in Ward 3.

Brashar will run against Stephanie Lippke for Ward 4.

At Elgin ISD, two seats are set to expire in May, Beth Walterscheidt, District 3, and Valarie Neidig, District 6.
