Wildcats basketball named all-district

Four Elgin High School boys varsity basketball players were named to the 5A-District 23 all-district team. Wildcats senior standout Nathen Lewis was a first-team selection for Elgin and was also named as an academic all-district award winner.

Sophomore Tyson Mc-Farlin, a second-team all-district selection, was also the recipient of the Newcomer of the Year award after he burst onto the varsity scene as a dynamic playmaker for the Wildcats. All-district honorable mentions for the Wildcats were junior Amar Bermudez and fellow junior Marcus Hickman.

The Wildcats boys basketball program, under Head Coach David Wilson, got off to an impressive 13-2 start, but finished the 2023-24 season with a 16-12 record.

Elgin finished with a 4-10 record in district play with two wins over Bastrop High School, a victory on the road against Georgetown East View High School and a 16-point triumph at home versus Pflugerville High School.
