The Court Appointed Special Advocates of Bastrop, Fayette and Lee Counties team continues to develop its ensemble of dedicated individuals.
Wendy Wallace, Kelly Marburger, Lisa Patten and Krista Williams have added their names to the list of appointees set to help with abuse and neglect foster care cases assigned by courts in the area.
There were 187 children in the child welfare system in local communities in 2022, according to CASA.
“Every one of these children, whatever their current circumstances, deserves every possible chance to succeed in life,” said CASA Executive Director Kristi Bauer.
Foster children face several obstacles and risks when their families are in crisis and they are placed in homes away from everything they know, including homelessness, incarceration and substance abuse. Screened, trained and appointed by local judges, CASA volunteers represent some of the best that residents have to offer.
Volunteers serve these children, getting to know them and acting as advocates for their wellbeing throughout the court process. They will speak with family members and provide a consistent presence for them, acting as a lifeline to help them make it through the more difficult moments they will face.
