The Elgin High School varsity baseball team cruised to a pair of lopsided 5A-District 23 victories this past week against Pflugerville Connally High School.

Behind a no-hitter thrown by senior pitcher Jack Grames, the Wildcats had consistent offense at home throughout the evening March 19 as they shut out the Cougars 8-0.
Grames was dominant as he pitched seven innings with nine strikeouts, only two walks issued and did not allow a hit.
The Wildcats scored in each of the first five innings and were led by sophomore Tyson Mc-Farlin as he went 2-for-4 at the plate with a double and two runs batted in. Elgin senior Alex Gamez, junior Malakai Hibbs and junior Fernando Ramirez also had one RBI apiece.

In a 13-1 rout on the road March 22 at Connally, the Wildcats used a nine-run fourth inning to break this game wide open.
McFarlin continued his strong week at the plate as he went 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles and four runs batted in, while senior outfielder Austin Miller knocked in three runs on two hits. Gamez and sophomore Bryce Barron had one RBI each, while Ramirez scored a teamhigh three runs in the rout of the Cougars.
Wildcats junior pitcher Jalen Owens was strong on the mound in the mercy-rule win as he threw five innings with 11 strikeouts, two hits allowed and one unearned run.
Elgin (8-12 overall, 3-1 district record), under Head Coach Jason Bourgeois, was scheduled March 26 to travel to take on Georgetown High School and the Wildcats will return home Thursday, March 28 at 7 p.m. to host the Eagles.
