CEDAR CREEK — The Cedar Creek High School varsity baseball team picked up a pair of 5A-District 23 victories this past week over Pflugerville Connally High School.
CEDAR CREEK EAGLES 10, CONNALLY COUGARS 0
The Eagles secured a run-rule victory March 26 on the road as Cedar Creek routed Connally 10-0 in five innings. Cedar Creek scored four runs in the second innings, piled on five more runs in the fourth frame and added an insurance run in the top of the fifth.
Reynaldo Borrego pitched the Eagles to a shutout as he went five scoreless innings with five strikeouts, three hits allowed and zero walks issued. He also drove in two runs at the plate.
Jacob Borrego had two RBI for Cedar Creek while Michael Ybardo, Isaiah Cancino, Arturo Rodriguez and Garrett Dilley drove in one run against the Cougars.

Behind another dominant pitching effort, the Eagles returned home March 28 and blanked the Cougars 4-0 as Joel Ornelas went seven innings with five strikeouts, two hits allowed, only one walk issued and zero runs allowed.
The Eagles scored in the bottom of the first inning with one out as Eric Rosales drew a bases-loaded walk to make it 1-0. Cedar Creek tacked on two more runs in the next frame as Jacob Borrego hit an RBI single and Ybardo brought in a run on a fielder’s choice.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Eagles tacked on another insurance run as Cancino smacked an RBI double that scored Anthony Hockman to bring the score to 4-0.
Cedar Creek (14-8 overall, 3-3 district record), under Head Coach Brett Hoffman, hosted Elgin High School Tuesday night, travel Friday, April 5 at 7 p.m. for a rematch on the road against the Wildcats.
