GEORGETOWN — The Elgin High School boys and girls varsity track and field teams competed April 3-4 at the 5A-District 23 meet hosted by Georgetown East View High School. The Wildcats and Lady Wildcats had several athletes qualify for the upcoming area meet by placing fourth or higher in their respective events.
ELGIN WILDCATS
2nd - Curtis McFarlin in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.11 seconds.
2nd - Curtis McFarlin in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 40.87 seconds.
4th - Issac Carter, Zaire Nuells, Emmanuel Asafotei and Xavier Penson in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 43.04 seconds.
4th - Jeffery Love in the discus with a mark of 119 feet six inches.
5th - Antione Murphy, Dylan Owens, Zaire Nuells and Emmanuel Asafotei in the 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:31.34.
5th - Miguel Nunez, Nathen Lewis, Dylan Owens and Emmanuel Asafotei in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:33.19.
5th - Joseph Stiggers in the shot put with a mark of 43 feet 0.5 inches.
5th - Jaydon Sawyer in the discus with a mark of 119 feet three inches.
7th - Dylan Owens in the long jump with a mark of 20 feet 2.5 inches.
7th - Curtis McFarlin in the triple jump with a mark of 41 feet.
8th - Matthew Cato in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 4:50.89.
8th - Matthew Cato in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 10:44.02.
ELGIN LADY WILDCATS
2nd - Kailyn Cook in the long jump with a mark of 17 feet 10.5 inches.
3rd - Makayla Taylor- Bowman, Layla Whitman, Kailyn Cook and Ta’ Myra Walker in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 49.39 seconds.
3rd - Kailyn Cook in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.33 seconds.
5th - Zy’ere Clemons, Layla Whitman, Sabra Baker and Makayla Taylor-Bowman in the 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:49.19.
5th - Jordin Seeger in the discus with a mark of 89 feet four inches.
6th - Sabra Baker, Zy’ere Clemons, Emily Lugala and Emma Lugala in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:35.32.
7th - Jordin Seeger in the shot put with a mark of 30 feet 2.25 inches.
8th - Layla Whitman in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.87 seconds.
9th - Emily Lugala in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:36.55.
10th - Grace Hagen in the discus with a mark of 80 feet six inches.
Elgin track and field will be back in action Wednesday, April 10 at the area meet held at East View with schools from 5A-District 23 and 5A-District 24.
