Lady Bears knock off Hendrickson

BASTROP – The Bastrop High School varsity softball team picked up a crucial 5A-District 23 win on the road Tuesday, April 2 as the Lady Bears handled business with a 7-3 victory at Pflugerville Hendrickson High School.

BASTROP — The Bastrop High School varsity softball team picked up a crucial 5A-District 23 win on the road Tuesday, April 2 as the Lady Bears handled business with a 7-3 victory at Pflugerville Hendrickson High School.

The Lady Bears scored at least one run an inning from the third frame on behind a balanced offensive attack and solid pitching to keep the Lady Hawks from rallying.

Abby Abraham got the win in the circle for Bastrop as she pitched seven innings with seven strikeouts, only two walks issued and just one of the three runs allowed were earned.

Elayna Coy drove in a team-high two runs and the Lady Bears also got one RBI apiece from Bryleigh Fawcett, Jada Canada and Madison Perez to propel them to victory.

Following a 10-4 loss at home Friday to Georgetown East View High School, the Lady Bears (13-11 overall, 5-5 district record) are still the No. 4 seed in the district playoff standings with the tiebreaker over Hendrickson. Bastrop, under Head Coach Teresa Morgan, was on the road Tuesday at Pflugerville Connally High School and will return home Friday, April 12 at 7 p.m. hosting Elgin High School.
