Bastrop County boys and girls varsity track and field teams were in action this past week as Bastrop High School, Cedar Creek High School, Smithville High School and McDade High School competed in area meets. Numerous standout athletes were able to qualify for their upcoming regional meets by placing fourth or higher in their respective events.
BASTROP BEARS
1st - Ramonz Adams in the triple jump with a mark of 45 feet 5.75 inches.
2nd - Roberto Sanchez, Levi Nichols, Ramonz Adams and LaDainian Merino in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:26.89.
3rd - Ramonz Adams in the long jump with a mark of 22 feet 0.75 inches.
3rd - Levi Nichols in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.92 seconds.
4th - Ramonz Adams in the high jump with a mark of five feet 11 inches.
4th - Jaden Riley in the pole vault with a mark of 11 feet.
BASTROP LADY BEARS
3rd - Maggie Haywood in the long jump with a mark of 17 feet two inches.
4th - Nandi Faye, Bethany Ware, Taylor Brown and Maggie Haywood in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 50.15 seconds.
5th - Allyson Patterson in the high jump with a mark of four feet eight inches.
CEDAR CREEK EAGLES
3rd - Dakota Baker, Nathan Ervin, Tristan Cornwell and Seth Staples in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 43.66 seconds.
4th - Seth Staples in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.73 seconds.
5th - Nathan Loudenslager in the triple jump with a mark of 42 feet six inches. Loudenslager was just 1.5 inches behind fourth-place finisher Fatu Mukuba of Austin LBJ High School.
CEDAR CREEK LADY EAGLES
4th - Kamryn Dudley in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.51 seconds.
4th - Kamryn Dudley in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.09 seconds.
SMITHVILLE TIGERS
1st - Baylor Watson in the discus with a mark of 131 feet eight inches.
4th - Zane Perkins in the pole vault with a mark of 10 feet four inches.
4th - Richard Johns in the high jump with a mark of five feet six inches.
5th - Baylor Watson in the shot put with a mark of 39 feet two inches.
SMITHVILLE LADY TIGERS
1st - Addison Waneck in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:02.14.
1st - Addison Waneck in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:31.52.
2nd - Marisela Dominguez, Cassie Barina, Saylor Strain and Addison Waneck in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:10.75.
2nd - Briyanna Sampson in the triple jump with a mark of 36 feet 5.75 inches.
2nd - Emorie Jones in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 5:55.65.
2nd - Cassie Barina in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:32.65.
2nd - Briyanna Sampson in the long jump with a mark of 17 feet five inches.
2nd - Kalynn Hodges in the high jump with a mark of five feet.
2nd - Emorie Jones in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 12:40.70.
5th - Brityn Roberts in the triple jump with a mark of 34 feet six inches. Roberts was just two inches behind fourthplace finisher Faith Zoch of Giddings High School.
7th - Saylor Strain in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:06.79.
MCDADE BULLDOGS AND LADY BULLDOGS McDade had one Lady Bulldog and one Bulldog excel at the 1A District 29-30 area meet by advancing to the upcoming 1A Region 4 meet April 19-20 to be hosted by Seguin High School. Summer Jacobs was the area champion with her first-place finish in the girls 800-meter run, while fellow sophomore Jacob Pacheco also qualified for regionals with a fourthplace finish in the boys 400-meter dash.
