The rich history, abundant diversity and creative talent of the city will be on display this weekend during the Explore Elgin Arts & Culture celebration.
The collaborative effort sponsored by dozens of local organizations and businesses will take place May 9-12 across the storied downtown area in Elgin.
Accompanying staple events like the Elgin Farmers Market, Music in the Park and Sip, Shop and Stroll, over 50 talented artists will be playing across 12 venues all weekend long, alongside guided tours and popup showcases.
The Elgin Oral History Project will also be hosting “Stories from the South Side,” a combination art show, story-telling event and dance party, according to representatives. The showcase will feature brief readings from residents about what it means to live and operate a business in southern Elgin, from 6 to 10 p.m. May 10, at The Open Room, 117 Central Ave.
