Familiar face returns as girls AD, coach

SMITHVILLE

SMITHVILLE — Smithville Independent School District recently announced the return of Jaimie Kadlecek to the high school athletic program as the girls athletic coordinator and head basketball coach.

With a winning history of coaching at Smithville High School and a passion for empowering young athletes, Kadlecek brings a wealth of experience and dedication to her new role.

Kadlecek returns to Smithville High School with a commitment to both athletic excellence and personal development. Having previously served as a coach in the district, she is no stranger to the community and its values. In her return, Kadlecek will not only lead the basketball team, but also oversee the broader girls athletic program, ensuring its growth and success.

Upon her appointment, Kadlecek expressed her enthusiasm.

“What an honor it is to serve the girls athletic program and our community in this role as girls coordinator,” she said. “I am beyond thrilled to embark on this new journey and to bring to the program the qualities that, without question, had such a meaningful impact on me, both as an athlete and person.”

Throughout her career, Kadlecek has exemplified the qualities of leadership, mentorship and sportsmanship that align closely with the values of Smithville High School, according to the district. Her return represents a significant moment for the athletic department and signals a continued commitment to fostering excellence, both on and off the court.

Kadlecek is a 2011 graduate of Smithville High School, and played and coached basketball at the collegiate level before returning to Smithville in 2017. She was head basketball coach from 2018 to 2022, before pivoting her career to serve a younger generation as the Brown Primary and Smithville Elementary Physical Education teacher.

As girls athletic coordinator, Kadlecek will work to cultivate a supportive and empowering environment for all female athletes at Smithville High School. Her leadership will extend beyond the basketball court, encompassing all aspects of girls’ sports, including teamwork, discipline and personal growth.

“Coach K is a dynamic coach and a knockout hire for our Smithville female athletes. She brings so much to the table from leadership, experience as a coach and player, as well as passion and enthusiasm to the profession,” said Athletic Director Layne Neumann. “We are very excited to bring her onboard and look forward to her pouring into our athletes at all levels with her knowledge and skills.”
