FFA ends the season on a high note

Elgin Future Farmers of America members rounded out the school year with top awards at competition.

Josephine Gruninger, Soil Stewardship Speaking, and Preston Maass, Jr. Prepared Speaking, participated in the competitive Area 12 Speaking Development Events at Cameron Yoe High School. Maass was one placing away from making state with a third place finish, and Josephine Gruninger was fifth.

In addition, Paden Maass comp e te d against the top 26 seniors in the area for a scholarship and won the Citizens National Bank scholarship.

In a competition shortly after, the incoming officer team traveled to the Area 12 Convention in Temple. They voted on the new Area Officer team, watched Gabi Sandoval perform talent and received their awards and banners from CDE and SDE season.

Payton Fail was the area 10th high individual in Food Science, Paden Maass was fourth highest and Jonah Crowell 10th highest in Tractor Tech.
