Last week, the Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office responded to a collision between an 18-wheeler tractor-trailer and a train just north of the city.

Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived at the scene on Texas 95, near Roemer Road and County Line Road, around 2 p.m. June 11. Reports stated the truck “made a stop but kept going” across the tracks before being struck by the southbound Union Pacific train.

According to deputies on site there were no reported injuries, with one individual declining transportation to a hospital.

The truck showed visible damage to the trailer in tow, split open from the collision, but the cabin remained intact. Trailer contents did not appear to have spilled around the area, apart from some metal debris, reports said.
