TNT lands: Private faith-based school leader introduces campus

Paige’s private Christian school is continuing its growth and opening up its next campus close to home.

State-accredited TNT Academy will be introducing its secondary school for grades six through 12 at 182 Old Lexington Road, in northeast Elgin. The middle and high school campus will have an open house showcase July 15, at 5:30 p.m.

Elementary grade levels will remain at the current location in Paige.

“I’m excited for us to come to Elgin because there is a great potential for our school to grow here and having a faith-based school here would be great for our community, as well,” Principal and Athletic Director Charles Wilson said.

Wilson, an Elginite and education professional of 25 years, returned home and took over the program’s reigns early last year. He has already introduced a successful sports program and continues to see his rising student population excel both academically and independently.

About 85% of students, whom Wilson calls “champions” because they are victorious, have a voice and value, already come from the Elgin area.

“People are glad to see a member of the community come back and do well, people want to follow that,” added Wilson in a recent interview with the Courier.

Along with the new location, TNT’s champions will have additional athletic opportunities. High schoolers this year will be competing with Bastrop Tribe Consolidated learners, a home school-based program.

TNT will house a sixman football team, boys and girls basketball teams and a girls volleyball team.

“I didn’t know TNT would be in the cards to make a difference, I just wanted to be involved in my Elgin community,” said the principal.

The first day of classes for the new TNT Academy Secondary School is scheduled for Sept. 4. Open enrollment is already in effect, call 737-677-9599 for more information.
