Veterans get a good look over Elgin

A fresh selection of Elgin’s proud veteran population is flying high across the city.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6115 project, led by Charlotte Thomas, continued implementing the light post banners this past week with 46 new entries.

Thomas secured donations and family photographs for use in the banners and worked with production companies to produce high quality standards for each honoree.

Every banner is unique and recognizes both living and deceased Elgin veterans.

The city’s Publ ic Works Department installed the signs on Main Street, Avenue C, Depot Street, Central Avenue and 11th Street – they will remain up through August.
