Tigers football eyes 2024 season

The Elgin High School volleyball program under Head Coach Patricia Rivers-Taylor returned to practice Monday, Aug. 5.

The Lady Wildcats varsity team struggled in 2023 but has a golden opportunity to show a lot of improvement this August with a majority of its roster returning in 2024.

However, Elgin will be in a brand new district along with many tough volleyball programs like Pflugerville Hendrickson High School, Pflugerville Weiss High School, Georgetown High School, Pflugerville High School, Pf luge r v i l le Connally High School and Georgetown East View High School.

At the conclusion of the first week of practice, Elgin volleyball will have a road scrimmage Friday at Austin Akins High School and Saturday at Taylor High School. The Lady Wildcats varsity team will open its season Tuesday, Aug. 13 at 6:30 p.m. at Bastrop High School.

ELGIN FOOTBALL

Although the Wildcats varsity and junior varsity football programs do not start practice until next Monday, the Elgin freshman squad began this week. The first day of full contact will be Aug. 10 for the freshman, while varsity and junior varsity have to wait until Aug. 17. The Wildcats varsity team, under Head Coach Heath Clawson, will have its lone scrimmage Aug. 22 on the road at Lockhart High School and will open the regular season at home Friday, Aug. 30 at 7:30 p.m. against Buda Hays High School.
