4-H horse club triumphs at state competition

MCDADE – Young riders representing the region returned home on July 27 with state recognition.

Members of the Lee County Texas Stars 4-H Horse Club competed in the 4-H State Horse Show in Bryan, where they participated in a week full of roping, halter, drill, speed and stock horse events. The team brought a small roster, but every participant placed in at least one event.

The LCTS quad drill team, consisting of Caitlyn Bayer and Colton Bayer of Lexington, and Dax Colosky and Gretchin Colosky of Mc-Dade, claimed the state championship title.

“It has been a challenging year, but the hard work and determination made it happen,” said Dax Colosky, the organization’s president-elect.

The local club has provided opportunities for horse-loving kids from the Elgin and Lexington area for years and is looking to grow in new and exciting directions, according to representatives.

“We are planning to host a variety of events, so now is a great time to get involved,” Colosky added. “LCTS would like to thank our sponsors for an amazing year; their encouragement and support made another successful year possible. We would also like to say goodbye to our current president and team captain, Gretchin Colosky. Gretchin has been the heart of the drill team for several years and graduated in May. We wish her love and luck in all her future endeavors.”
