Fees boost conservation efforts
As fall fast approaches, Bastrop County residents can start preparing for the new hunting and fishing seasons with 2024-25 licenses now available for purchase.
According to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, Texans purchase over 3.9 million hunting and fishing licenses each year, which fund crucial conservation projects and recreational opportunities. License fees support efforts like fish stocking, wildlife management, habitat restoration, public hunting leases, river fishing access and the work of Texas Game Wardens.
License buyers also help provide processed meat to local food banks and grants for veteran service organizations through donations.
Current Texas hunting and fishing licenses, excluding the Year-from-Purchase All-Water Fishing Package, expire at the end of August.
Outdoorsmen and women can buy licenses online at https://tpwd. texas.gov, at retail locations, TPWD offices or by phone at 800-895-4248.
Hunters and anglers also have the option to buy digital licenses, but holders must keep their digital license accessible on a mobile device while in the field. Digital tagging is required through the Texas Hunt & Fish app.
