Tee off for a cause

Tee off for a cause

Local golfers will soon have the opportunity to hit the links and help raise money for a local charitable cause.

The third annual Relay For Life of Elgin Golf Tournament is set to take place Sept. 21 at the ColoVista Golf Club in Bastrop, 100 Country Club Drive. Benefiting the American Cancer Society, the event aims to unite the community for a day of friendly competition and fundraising.

“Any and all skill levels are welcome, we just have some fun out there and do what we can,” Ruth Hyatt said, event organizer.

Last year’s tournament raised approximately $5,300, and all profits from this year’s event will go directly to cancer research and support services.

Teams of four are invited to compete, with the option for partial teams to be paired with others. The cost to play is $100 per person, and the deadline to register is Sept. 8, so interested golfers are encouraged to sign up soon.

In addition to the tournament, the event will feature a lunch, raffle drawing, games and prizes throughout the day. Participants can check in at 8 a.m., with a shotgun start scheduled for 9 a.m. The tournament will conclude with awards at 1 p.m.

For those interested in supporting the event further, there are opportunities to sponsor a hole or donate raffle items.

Details and registration can be found at elginrelaygolf. com. For additional inquiries, contact Relay For Life of Elgin directly through the website.
