Several key construction projects funded by the 2021 Elgin Independent School District bond package are approaching completion, following the recent opening of Harvest Ridge Elementary School.
Elgin High School is set to benefit from several new additions this fall, according to the district.
The campus will see the unveiling of 42 new classrooms spread across two stories, an expansion of Career and Technical Education facilities and a new Multi-Purpose Facility. The cafeteria expansion, also funded by the 2021 bond, was completed in August, alongside Harvest Ridge Elementary.
The new classroom additions include stateof- the- ar t faci l it ie s such as auto tech bays, a greenhouse and a healthcare lab. The CTE expansion aims to enhance vocational training opportunities for students, while the Multi-Purpose Facility, located just south of Wildcat Stadium, will provide a versatile space for school programs, district representatives said.
The 56,865 squarefoot facility features a 70-yard indoor practice field with artificial turf, restrooms, storage, offices and training and weight rooms. Designed to accommodate multiple sports, the field will also be available for community events and fine arts activities.
Looking ahead, Elgin High School’s new fine arts auditorium, which will seat over 1,100 people, is expected to open in February. Additionally, the Elgin ISD Transportation Center and Trinity Ranch Elementary are scheduled to debut later in 2025, according to the district.
