BASTROP — The move of the social-media platform X headquarters from California to Bastrop will help spur population growth by more than 40% over the next few years, according to City Manager Sylvia Carrillo.
“We believe [it will lead to] astronomical growth,” Carrillo said in a preview to her “state of the city” speech she was set to deliver on Monday. “There’s 14,000 people now, and we expect 20,000 in five years. That’s a 42% growth in five years.”
Carrillo responded to a recent Forbes report detailing the official move of X, formerly known as Twitter Inc., from San Francisco to Bastrop, saying the company had effectively moved there long before the story appeared.
The social-media platform X is owned by business titan Elon Musk, who has already relocated his companies Space X and Boring Co. to Bastrop.
