GIDDINGS – The Giddings Public Library is set to host the annual Texas Word Wrangler Book Festival this weekend, featuring 22 Texas authors.
“Our festival focuses exclusively on Texas authors,” said Library Director Jessi Akins. “We want to support Texas literature and encourage future writers.”
This year, the festival saw a record 73 author applications. Selected authors come from cities across Texas, including Bastrop, Round Rock, Fort Worth and Austin.
“Each year, we see an increase in the quality and quantity of author submissions,” Akins said. “Authors love our community, and as a result, each festival brings greater interest from Texas authors.”
The festival offers attendees the chance to meet authors one-onone, buy autographed books and enjoy in-library readings.
“Our authors are great about spending time talking with the community and answering questions,” Akins added.
The event runs Friday, Sept. 27, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, Sept. 28, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 276 N. Orange St. in Giddings. Admission and parking are free, and attendees are eligible for a door prize valued at $500.
