BASTROP — A shooting in a park that injured a male remains under investigation, according to a social media post from the Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office.
A Facebook post attributed to Sheriff Maurice Cook also noted, “It has come to our attention there is some misinformation circulating on social media about the shooting that occurred at 6:18 p.m. on 10-2-24.”
No identities or charges were mentioned in Cook’s message, which was posted Oct. 3 at 11:49 p.m.
According to Cook, “The Bastrop County Emergency Communications Center received a call reporting the shooting at the Bastrop County Nature Park on East Riverside Drive in Tahitian Village. The responding deputies learned that two male individuals were involved in a dispute that resulted in one of them being shot.”
The injured person was rushed by emergency medical services personnel to an area hospital “with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. There is no threat to the public,” Cook added.
According to Cook’s post, “All those involved were immediately identified and the proper law-enforcement action taken. The investigation continues.”
