Elginite scratches $1M lotto

One lucky local claimed a $1 million scratch ticket earlier this week, Texas Lottery officials said.

The Elgin resident remains anonymous after claiming the first of four top prizes from the Lucky Millions lottery. The winning ticket was purchased at the Elgin Quick Mart, 13717 County Line Road.

Lucky Millions offers more than $94 million in total prizes. Overall odds of winning any prize in the game, including break-even prizes, are one in 3.99, according to the organization.

Texas Lottery sold its first ticket in 1992 and has since generated more than $39 billion in revenue for the state and distributed over $89 billion in total prizes.

The group has also contributed more than $33 billion to the Foundation School Fund, supporting public education in the state, and $250 million for Texas veterans.
