BASTROP — The Bastrop Bears girls varsity basketball team extended its perfect start to the season with an eighth consecutive victory, defeating the Marble Falls Mustangs 51-38 Tuesday, Nov. 12.
Bastrop took control early, finishing the first quarter with a 14-7 lead and maintaining a 25-17 advantage at halftime. The Bears stretched their lead in the third quarter with a 16-7 run, entering the final period up 4124. Despite a late push from Marble Falls, Bastrop held on to secure the win.
This marks the Bears' seventh double-digit victory of the season, with their only close game being a thrilling 61-58 win over Weiss.
Junior guard Kenadee Lawhon and sophomore guard Taylor Brown have been standout performers during the team's hot streak.
Bastrop will look to keep their perfect record intact when they host Del Valle for a weekday matchup.
