New lead for Cedar Creek football

Eagles seek first win since 2021

CEDAR CREEK — Bastrop Independent School District announced last week that Jared Shaw has been hired as Cedar Creek High School’s new athletic coordinator and head football coach.

Shaw will succeed Josh Thomas in the role.

“We are thrilled to welcome Coach Shaw to the Cedar Creek athletic program,” said Eliot Allen, Bastrop ISD athletic director. “He is an inspiring leader with a deep passion for all sports. His energy is contagious, and we’re excited to see the bright future ahead for CCHS athletics.”

Shaw brings with him 10 years of coaching and teaching experience. He currently serves as assistant head coach and offensive coordinator at Copperas Cove, where he helped lead the Bulldawgs to their first four-win season since 2018.

He has also held similar leadership positions at Lockhart High School and Ellison High School.

“My family and I are excited to join the Cedar Creek campus and community,” Shaw said. “Together, we will build a program that not only excels on the field but also shapes well-rounded individuals who are ready to face life’s challenges.”

Shaw takes over a program that has struggled in recent years, posting a 0-30 record over the past three seasons. The Eagles’ last win came in 2021.
