Wildcats pushed up the plates to take home first place in the Giddings boys powerlifting meet Jan. 4.
Senior lifter Alejandro Arroyo-Palma was named Outstanding Lifter in the 165-pound class, squatting 615 lbs., benching a team-high 405 and deadlifting an impressive 500 rack.
Miguel Nunez finished first in the 181-pound weight class with 1,585 lbs. lifted. He topped Elgin’s squatters with 625, benched 375 and deadlifted 585 lbs. Jake Johnson immediately followed in the division, taking second with a total 1,185 lbs., squatting 405, benching 295 and deadlifting 485 lbs.
Joseph Stiggers finished first in the 308-pound weight class, lifting a total of 1,405 lbs., squatting 525, benching 295 and deadlifting 585 pounds.
Ayden Vazquez finished second in the 275-pound weight class, raising 1,095 lbs., squatting 405, benching 315 and deadlifting 375 lbs.
Drake McCoy placed second in the super heav yweight clas s, clearing 1,000 lbs. with a 335-pound squat, 270-pound bench and 395-pound deadlift.
Tyler Salas and Micheal Wilson each finished thi rd in thei r respective weight classes.
The Wildcats will host their next meet Saturday, Jan. 25, at Elgin High School.
