Elgin’s residential landscape has expanded with the launch of a new community tailored for aspiring homeowners, as well as seasoned buyers, according to city officials.
Brightland Homes held a grand opening late last month at the model house for its second development, Creeks Crossing, near County Line Road and U.S. 290. The sample site — featuring high ceilings and a modern design — is part of a $200 million economic investment that has already produced jobs, built 15 homes and welcomed several new families, with four more set to move in next month.
Sales Counselor Pat Vaughan stressed the project’s focus on first-time homebuyers.
“The idea is that some of the local people can transition from leasing to becoming a homeowner. It won’t be that super high pricing that you’re going to get on those other homes that you can’t get in,” she said.
Construction on Creeks Crossing began in June, with the model home opening its doors in December. “Affordable Elgin luxury” is the promise behind the development, which is still under construction, according to representatives.
Vaughan added that new buyers can take advantage of 100% financing, down-payment assistance and other programs.
The development will ultimately offer about 200 new homes with a variety of options, separated on the plat. One section features a line of entry-level homes around 1,600 square feet, while other areas will include larger, more customizable houses up to 3,000 square feet.
Homebuyers can personalize floor plans, select finishes and choose details like driveway placement and garage size — prices vary based on materials and upgrades.
Additional amenities such as parks and trails are in the works, according to Vaughan, with developers making efforts to preserve trees amid new construction.
“The beauty of this community is that it is going to be diverse. We are making a lot of effort, we are welcoming and willing to work with anyone — and we’re saving a lot of trees,” she said.
During the celebration, local realtors, new families and Chamber of Commerce representatives listened to Mayor Theresa McShan highlight the project’s role in expanding local housing options while supporting Elgin’s growing infrastructure.
“When you live in Elgin, you are part of a family and you’re welcome to be a part of that. Thank you so much for your presence,” McShan said. “Thank you so much for the new families that are joining our community. Welcome, this is a wonderful place where you guys are going to make great memories, and your children will love as well.”
Creeks Crossing joins Brightland Homes’ neighboring Briarwood development, set to offer a total of around 500 residential options for new Elginites and support the city’s wave of growth, according to the mayor.
