STITCHED EXHIBIT

BASTROP — A range of rare quilts from the 1850s to present day will remain on display at the Bastrop Museum & Visitor Center, 904 Main St., through March 30. The exhibit celebrates the art of quilting, their stories and the developing community of Bastrop County. Visitors can also design a paper square to contribute to a giant community quilt. MCDADE — The next meeting of the McDade Extension Education Club will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, at Faith Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall, 230 Waco St., in Mc-Dade.

CULT CLASSIC CON

BASTROP — This year’s three-day Cult Classic will feature a horror shorts film festival, cash-prize costume contest, photo ops with genre celebrities, special horror movie vehicles, live music and more. The showcase begins at 5 p.m. Friday, March 21, at the Bastrop Convention Center — film showings at 8 p.m. at the Hampton Inn, 240 S. Hasler Blvd. Other events 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. March 22, and noon to 5 p.m. March 23.

KITE FESTIVAL

ELGIN — Elgin Methodist Church will host its Kite Festival Sunday, March 23, after an 11 a.m. worship service. Tie a dream or goal to a kite and watch as it takes flight. Food, crafts and contests will accompany the event.

JUNETEENTH ELECTION ELGIN — An election of officers for the Elgin Juneteenth Organization will take place Tuesday, March 25, at 7 p.m. at the Elgin Flemming Center, 802 N. Avenue C.

LEND ME A TENOR

BASTROP — “Lend Me a Tenor” takes the stage at the Bastrop Opera House, bringing award-winning comedy and chaos to the spotlight. Set in 1934, the madcap farce follows an opera company’s desperate scramble when its star tenor is unexpectedly sidelined.
