A blowout win over Pflugerville Connally and a tough loss to East View left the Elgin Lady Wildcats varsity softball team with a split record last week.
Elgin, now 8-12 overall and 3-3 in district play, dominated Connally 15-2 before stumbling 12-1 against East View Tuesday, March 18. The girls will next host Marble Falls before traveling to Hendrickson Friday, March 28, for a 7 p.m. district matchup.

Down 2-0 in the top of the first inning, the Lady Wildcats erupted for seven runs in the bottom half, anchored by junior Bianca Galindo’s two-run home run and a run-scoring single from Jaelyn Price.
Elgin sealed the run-rule win with another seven-run outburst in the fourth, helping them finish with a .400-plus team batting average and 10 RBIs in the game.
Junior pitcher Katelyn Anderson earned the victory, tossing 4 ²⁄₃ scoreless innings and striking out five.
vs. East View
Elgin’s offense struggled mightily against East View’s pitching staff, managing only four hits.
The Patriots jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning and then broke the game open with three runs in the third and five in the fourth for a decisive 10-0 advantage.
Sophomore Miranda Herring drove in the Lady Wildcats’ lone run, while senior Gabriella Sandoval took the loss in the circle.
