A blistering offensive display kept the Bastrop Bears varsity softball team perfect in district play last week, as they ran through Ann Richards 18-0 in a three-inning run-rule victory.
Laicey Sullivant led the March 25 charge by going 3-for-3 with four RBIs.
Bastrop, now 8-0 in district, roared out of the gate with 10 runs in the first inning, opening the floodgates on a sacrifice fly by Sullivant before Bryleigh Fawcett pushed the lead to 3-0 with a two-run single.
Another Fawcett single, plus runs scored on an error and contributions from Sullivant, Kylie McNabb and Lanie Coy, made it 10-0 by inning’s end.
The Bears kept rolling in the second, plating eight more runs.
Jada Canada’s tworun single extended the advantage to 13-0, followed by an RBI double from Bailey Merritt.
Errors and timely hits from Sullivant and Jessa Clay sealed the run-rule decision in just three innings.
Bastrop travels to Navarro Wednesday, April 2, for a 7 p.m. matchup before hosting the Liberal Arts & Science Academy at 7 p.m. Friday, April 4.
