Elgin golf tops Pflugerville meet

PFLUGERVILLE — A stellar outing on the Blackhawk Course in Pflugerville catapulted the Elgin Wildcats boys varsity golf team to a first-place finish Tuesday, March 25.

Malakai Hibbs paced Elgin with a round of 82, closely followed by Preston Maass at 87 and Jack Grames at 89.

Joseph Castillo’s 94 rounded out the scoring for the Wildcats, whose collective effort proved too strong for the competition.

With the district tournament looming, the Wildcats are building confidence at the right time, coaching staff said.

Elgin’s linksmen will be tested during the April 7 weekend meeting at ShadowGlen Golf Club in Manor, where they aim to continue their winning form.
