ELGIN — Enjoy live music at Veterans Memorial Park in downtown Elgin every Friday night in April and May. On April 18, Studio 22 kicks off the evening at 6 p.m., followed by the Allen Lee Band at 7 p.m. with Southern rock and country tunes. Bring lawn chairs, snacks, and friends for a family-friendly night of music and fun.

SMITHVILLE — Celebrate the history of Smithville’s Southside on April 19 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The program begins with tributes at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church and concludes at Mary A. Brown School, highlighting the Southside History Project and City Historic Marker Program. Limited lunches provided.

BASTROP — Former Texas Ranger Hall of Fame Director Byron Johnson will present “A Heritage of Three Centuries in Legend and Artifacts” April 24 at the Bastrop Museum & Visitor Center, 904 Main St., from 6:30-8 p.m. The program will explore the Texas Rangers’ real and legendary history, cross-cultural roots and role in pop culture.
