Jacket weather isn't over yet, and a chance of rain this week is higher than anticipated.

Temperatures continue whiplashing this week as a cold front is forecast to drop Bastrop County by 10-20 degrees from Thursday to Friday, March 2-3. Winds and rain are expected to accomapny the front.

"Warm temperatures stick around through Thursday," said the National Weather Service Austin/San Antonio Office. "There is a low chance for a few showers and strong to severe storms by Thursday afternoon in the Hill Country and east of I-35, with strong northwest winds arriving late in the day. Critical fire weather conditions are expected."

Thursday will have a 40% chance of rain during the day before increasing to 60% at night. Winds will get up 20-25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph before starting to calm Friday afternoon. Overcast skies will also clear by Friday.

Highs will be up to 84 degrees Wednesday, March 1, and inch higher into the upper 80s Thursday before the cold front arrives. Lows will also dip from the mid 60s to the mid to mid 40s. Friday should stay in the mid 60s during the day before chilling down to around 40 degrees at night. The weekend should warm slightly to the mid 70s and be back to around 80 degrees Monday, March 6.
