PAIGE — Bands of merry men and plenty of feudal fun can be found in the Piney Woods for the next couple of months.
The 14th Annual Sherwood Forest Faire opened its festival season Saturday, March 4. The festival continues every Saturday and Sunday through April 23 as well as Friday, March 17.
Sherwood Forest Faire takes place in a 25-acre medieval style village near Paige. The wooded grounds feature over 100 permanent buildings, including stages, pubs, merchant shoppes, wedding venues, a fully functional castle and more. The event features over 150 performances by more than 40 stage acts, including full-contact jousting, falconry, comedians, jugglers, musicians and other shows. Fairies, peasants, Robin Hood, Little John, the Sheriff of Nottingham and King Richard the Lion-Heart can be spotted throughout the grounds.
Shoppers can choose from the works of over 170 artisans and merchants showcasing distinctive wares, including mostly handcrafted items by jewelers, potters, glassworkers, woodworkers, leatherworkers, armorers and more.
Festival grounds are located at 1883 Old Highway 20 in Paige.
