BASTROP — Bastrop ISD has selected Michelle Nicholas to be the principal of Bastrop Intermediate School.
Nicholas has most recently served as an assistant principal at Bluebonnet Elementary. She will assume the position in the coming weeks.
“I am excited and honored to be chosen as the principal of Bastrop Intermediate School,” said Nicholas. “I am looking forward to rejoining the BIS family and continuing the progress that has been made over the past few years.”
Nicholas began her career in education in 2006 as a sixth grade math teacher at Cedar Creek Intermediate School. She taught at CCIS until 2015 when she was promoted to assistant principal at the same campus. In 2019, she transitioned to Bastrop Intermediate School in the same position.
“Michelle has the experience and leadership that will be an ideal fit for Bastrop Intermediate School,” said Superintendent Barry Edwards. “The relationships she has with the BIS staff and her knowledge about the strong systems and pathways at BIS will help take that school to the next level of academic excellence and student success.”
Nicholas holds a Bachelor of Science in academic studies with a concentration in mathematics from Sam Houston State University and a Master of Education Administration from Lamar University. Michelle and her husband, Dan, have two children, Emma and Dylan, both of whom attend Mina Elementary School.
