At 11:26 p.m. Monday, March 27, the Elgin Police Department responded to a call for shots fired in the 800 block of South Martin Luther King Boulevard. The road was shut down, and residents were ordered to shelter in place.

The scene was cleared by 7:07 a.m., and the road has reopened.
At press time, there was no information on injuries.
