CEDAR CREEK — The Bastrop LadyBears gave the Cedar Creek Lady Eagles a crash landing on the softball field on Friday, March 24, in a district matchup.

Now tied for fourth place in district, the Lady Bears took the 14-0 win in stride as they are currently in a playoff spot.

The game started with the Lady Bears on offense, and they got going early. Bastrop found success swinging the bat against the Lady Eagles opening the game with two runs scored.

With a 2-0 lead, the Lady Bears went on defense ready to stop any counter punch La Grange had in their tracks. Bastrop's defense secureed three outs quickly without allowing a run scored, which became a theme throughout the game.

Now back on offense, the Lady Bears looked to run away with the game with continued success at the plate. Bastrop added five more runs to their lead and sucked the wind completely out of the Lady Eagles sails.

The Lady Bears would add another run to their lead in the third inning to make it 8-0 in the district matchup. The Lady Eagles got something going offensively in the bottom of the third, but again were unable to find home plate thanks to Bastrops' defense.

Heading into the fourth, the Lady Eagles wanted to build on that momentum and were finally able to keep the Lady Bears off of the score board because of it. Still behind 8-0, the Lady Eagles went back on offense looking to break through.

Unfortunately, the Lady Bears defenders were equal to the task and again secured three outs to go back on offense. The Lady Bears added another run in the fifth to deflate the Eagles rally and extend their lead even more on the scoreboard.

Three outs later, Bastrop added another five runs to the lead to make it a 14-0 game heading into the bottom of the sixth. Their defense would again stand tall and shut down the Lady Eagles offense to secure the win.

After the win over La Grange, the Lady Bears had a big task ahead of them as they faced Georgetown, the district leader, Tuesday, March 28. Bears ground Eagles
