AUSTIN — A suspect wanted in an apparent double homicide has been captured in Austin.
The Elgin Police Department released this statement late Friday afternoon, March 31.
"On March 31, 2023, around 12:00pm, suspect Terrence Lewis was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshal’s Lone Star Fugitive Task Force – Austin Division," said the press release. "Lewis was found in the 6100 Blk Fairway St., in southeast Austin. The Elgin Police Department requested assistance from the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force to locate and apprehend Lewis who was known to be in the Austin area.
"Elgin Police Department detectives brought Lewis back to Elgin as part of the continuing investigation and he being held in Bastrop County Jail," continued the release. "Lewis, who is a suspect in the deaths of Crystal D. Fitzgerald, 43; and Reggie W. Smith, 45 will be booked into the Bastrop County Jail for two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon; 2nd Degree Felony."
