Business owners might be free of further vandalism that recently hit downtown buildings.

Camron Anthony Carter, 18, was arrested March 27 in connection with graffiti splattered throughout central Elgin last month. He is being held at the Bastrop County Jail on a $10,000 bond.

“Detectives began investigating the incidents and through evidence and interviews were able to identify Carter as the suspect,” said EPD in a press release.

As graffiti began to pop up on outside walls at several locations, 13 reports from business owners and city employees described similar drawaings.

“Some of these were the same business calling in multiple times,” said Commander Aaron Crim in the early stages of the investigation. “In all of these instances, there is a pattern of the same graffiti being painted, so it is presumed that they are all related.”

Graffiti was drawn at 20 N. Main St as well as Brique, Elgin Public Library, Advocacy Center, Prosperity Bank, Powel’s Printery, Citgo Food Mart, El Maguey and Candy Nails.

When Carter was named the suspect, arrest warrants were issued charging him with the class B misdemeanor.Graffiti suspect caught
