Newly elected city council members sworn in

The city of Elgin held a swearing-in ceremony for its newly elected City Council Members May 17, with Mayor Theresa Mcshan acting as mistress of ceremony.

The city of Elgin held a swearing-in ceremony for its newly elected City Council Members May 17, with Mayor Theresa Mcshan acting as mistress of ceremony.

The ceremony was held on the porch of the Dr. I.B. Nofsinger House, Elgin City Hall. A Registered Texas Historic Landmark listed on the National Register of Historic places, the building dates to 1906.

Sarah O’Brien administered the oath of office for Councilmember Forest Dennis, re-elected to represent Ward 4. Jennifer Stubbs administered the oath of office for Councilmember Matthew Callahan, who ran unopposed to represent Ward 3. Latisha Thorn administered the oath of office for YaLecia Love, elected to represent Ward 2. orest, Matthew and Ya-Lecia will serve terms through May 2025.

Regular City Council meetings are held the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p..m in the Elgin Public Library council chambers.
