BURNET – The Cedar Creek High School boys varsity basketball team came up just short Friday, Dec. 8 as the Eagles fell 62-54 on the road against Burnet High School.

TAYLOR – The Bastrop High School boys varsity basketball team under Head Coach Eric Woods competed last week at the Taylor Tournament and won in its opening game 60-32 in dominant fashion over Austin Royals Homeschool.

BASTROP – The Cedar Creek and Bastrop High School girls varsity basketball teams squared off Tuesday, Dec. 5 at Cedar Creek High School in the 5A-District 23 opener for both teams and the Lady Eagles used a big second half to beat the Lady Bears by a score of 58-33.

FLATONIA – The Smithville High School girls varsity basketball team picked up two victories over the past weekend with the Lady Tigers at the Flatonia Tournament.

BASTROP – The Cedar Creek High School girls varsity basketball team recently competed at the New Braunfels Canyon High School tournament and faced a quartet of very good teams.

MCDADE – The McDade High School girls varsity basketball team held its ground at home Tuesday, Nov. 28 as the 1A Lady Bulldogs defeated 4A Manor New Tech High School by a score of 42-40 in a crucial win over a large school squad.

BASTROP – The Cedar Creek High School boys varsity basketball team was back in action last week as the squad hosted the Eagle Shootout Tournament on its home court against tough competition across Texas.

LOCKHART – The Elgin High School boys varsity basketball team is clicking early in the 2023-24 regular season under Head Coach David Wilson as the Wildcats are currently on a fourgame winning streak following success at the Lockhart Tournament that concluded on Saturday evening.

LOCKHART – The Bastrop High School boys varsity basketball team notched two victories Saturday at the Lockhart Tournament to get the Bears back into the win column under Head Coach Eric Woods.

The Elgin High School boys varsity basketball team picked up a huge victory Friday. Nov. 17 in its home opener as the Wildcats came from behind to defeat Waco High School 57-48. Despite racing a first-half deficit, the Wildcats came to life in the third quarter and took care of business down the stretch of the fourth quarter against the visiting Lions.

The Elgin Youth Football and Cheer Junior Football team won the Central Texas Youth Football League Championship game Saturday, Nov. 18, as this Wildcats team ended the 2023 season with an undefeated record of 10-0.

The Elgin High School varsity football team was highlighted last week as plenty of Wildcats players were honored with selections to the 5A-2 District 11 team.
