Hilda Martha Neidig
Hilda Martha Neidig
Hilda lived her entire life in McDade, until her health began to decline and needed rehabilitation at the Towers Nursing Home in January of 2021. She hoped to be gain a full recovery and return home, however, she was not able to do so.
She loved her deep roots of the small town of Mc-Dade, where she was raised, and later also raised her own children, a town she missed immensely.
In her early years, she worked alongside her parents and sisters, tending to the family farm, where a host of daily chores kept them all very busy.
While attending school, she and her sisters walked many, many miles together. When the McDadec closed its high school, she attended Elgin High School, where she met her husband, Richard Neidig Jr. The couple were later married on June 11, 1950 at the McDade Baptist Church.
Hilda and Richard made McDade their home, where they continued the family tradition of farming and ranching. Throughout the years, Hilda worked with her husband on the farm and ranching business. She also worked for the Internal Revenue Service, the McDade Independent School District, Stop & Go Inc. and the U.S. Postal Service.
Hilda is survived by her three children, Larry Neidig and wife Brooke, Terry Neidig and wife Debbie, Kathy and husband Bryan Gersch; 19 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
Hilda left her family a strong legacy of selflessness, hard work, and more importantly, the spirit of love and giving.
Memorial contributions can be made, in Hilda Kastner Neidig’s Memory, to the McDade Baptist Church.
