Helen Lucille Pearce, age 94, went to be with her beloved and trusted Savior Jesus Christ Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2023. She was born Oct. 17, 1929, in Austin, to John and Bertha (Bangston) Anderson.

Even though her give name was Helen, her family and friends always knew her as Lucille. Lucille was a beloved member of the New Sweden Lutheran Church in Manor, where she shared her beautiful voice as part of the choir.

Music was a passion that resonated deeply with Lucille. She found solace and joy in playing the piano and organ, filling the air with melodies that touched the hearts of those around her. Lucille also had a love for exploring thrift stores, finding hidden treasures, and embracing the uniqueness of each discovery.

One of the greatest joys in Lucille’s life was watching her children and grandchildren participate in various sporting events and activities with her beloved husband. Their unwavering support and presence brought immense pride and happiness to both her and her beloved children and grandchildren.

Lucille will always be remembered for her famous Swedish rye bread. The aroma of her baking filled the house, creating cherished memories and bringing people together.

Lucille was a person who wore many hats, and she held a special place in the hearts of many.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 69 years, Leslie Pearce; and her siblings, Charles Anderson, Alton Anderson and Olga Katrola.

She is survived by her son, John Pearce and his wife Gayla; her daughters, Sharon Boecker and Helen Santos and her husband David. Lucille also leaves behind a beautiful legacy through her six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and many loved and treasured friends.

A visitation was held from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home. A celebration of Lucille’s life was held Monday, Dec. 4, at 2 p.m. at New Sweden Lutheran Church. Following the service, she was laid to rest in the New Sweden Cemetery, where her spirit will forever be embraced by the community she loved.

In Lucille’s memory, her family kindly requests donations to be made to the New Sweden Lutheran Church or any charity of your choice.
