Debra Sue Childress Pace

She was born July 13, 1955, in Austin, to Clifford Lewis Childress and Helen Marie Helm.
Debra married the love of her life, Marvin Carter Pace, May 6, 1972, and they shared 52 and a half wonderful years together.
After graduating from high school, Debra dedicated herself to furthering her education and career. She earned certifications as a certified medication technician, certified nail technician from Austin Beauty College and certified peace officer with the Texas State Department of Corrections. Her professional journey was diverse, having owned Clip It Up On Main Beauty Salon in Bastrop and worked as a CNA at Silver Pines Nursing and Rehab. She also served as a nurse and corrections officer with the Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office.
A true woman of many talents, Debra was a skilled baker and expert cook, a seamstress and a lover of training horses and dogs. She was recognized with the highest award for bravery by the City of Austin for her courageous actions in the apprehension of an armed robber and received numerous accolades from the Bastrop County Sheriff’s Department.
Debra’s legacy lives on in her loving family. She is survived by her husband, Marvin C. Pace, 71, of Ledbetter; children James C. Pace, Joseph D. Pace and partner Lonna Friedel and Alexis M. Pace and husband William Chrisan of Bastrop. Her beloved grandchildren include Collin Pace and wife Madison, Cohen Pace, Pacey Chrisan, Roman Chrisan and Marvin “Brody” Chrisan. She also leaves behind granddaughters Marissa Chrisan and Kameryn Chrisan Lee and husband Logan, as well as great-grandson Mason Pace and great-granddaughter Aubrey, who was described as “Mawmaw’s spitting image.”
She is also survived by her brother, Frank Messerole, and aunts Mary Theresa (Cookie) Gray and Linda Childress.
Debra was preceded in death by her father, Clifford Childress, her mother, Helen Helm, and her grandson, Brandon Chrisan.
Debra’s warmth, kindness and strength will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
