A STORY WORTH TELLING

Matthew 9:1-8 (ESV) And getting into a boat, Jesus crossed over and came to his own city. And behold, some people brought to him a paralytic, lying on a bed. And when Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Take heart, my son; your sins are forgiven.” And behold, some of the scribes said to themselves, “This man is blaspheming.” But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, “Why do you think evil in your hearts? For which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Rise and walk?’ But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”–he then said to the paralytic–“ Rise, pick up your bed and go home.” And he rose and went home. When the crowds saw it, they were afraid, and they glorified God, who had given such authority to men.

WACO – The Elgin High School varsity football team came up just short Friday night as the Wildcats were edged 27-23 on the road at University High School in Waco.

GEORGETOWN – Elgin High School, Cedar Creek High School and Bastrop High School varsity cross country were all in action Oct. 12 for the 5A-District 23 meet hosted by Georgetown East View High School.

The Elgin High School varsity volleyball team had a pair of home 5A-District 23 matches this past week as the Lady Wildcats hosted Georgetown High School Oct. 10 and Cedar Creek High School last Friday night.

BASTROP – Cedar Creek High School varsity volleyball is continuing to put the pieces together at the right time as the Lady Eagles won two 5A-District 23 matches this past week.

PFLUGERVILLE – The Bastrop High School varsity volleyball team suffered a pair of tough losses this past week as the Lady Bears fell to Georgetown East View High School and Pflugerville Connally High School.

GIDDINGS – Staring at a 20-0 deficit on the road heading into halftime, there was zero quit in this Smithville High School varsity football team under head coach Cyril Adkins on Friday. The Tigers mounted a thrilling comeback in the second half to knock off the Buffaloes of Giddings High School 35-34 for a pivotal 4A-2 District 12 victory that halted a five-game losing streak.

GIDDINGS – The Smithville High School varsity cross country program took to the course at Camp Tejas in Giddings last Thursday as the Lady Tigers and Tigers both competed in the 4A-District 22 championship meet.
