A collective assessment of Elgin’s new Business Park confirms a committed investment of over $127 million and 400 jobs, with an expected greater return on revenue for land sales.
For the 30th consecutive month Texas showed job growth, reaching just under 14 million jobs and outpacing the nation in its annual rate of employment growth, according to the Texas Workforce Commission.

COUPLAND – On Sunday, Oct. 15, beginning at 11:15 a.m., the Coupland Civic Organization will hold its annual Choo Choo Fest at St. Peter’s Church of Coupland.
PFLUGERVILLE – The Bastrop High School varsity volleyball team remained in prime playoff position for 5A-District 23 last week as the Lady Bears had road matches on Oct. 3 at Pflugerville High School and Oct. 6 at Pflugerville Hendrickson High School.
The Elgin High School varsity football team had its hands full last Friday evening as the Wildcats were unable to shake off a slow start in the first half with a 42-26 loss at home to Killeen Chaparral High School.
BASTROP – The Bastrop High School varsity football team continued its impressive 2023 season on Oct. 6 as the Bears dominated rival Cedar Creek High School 34-7 at Bastrop ISD Memorial Stadium.
MCDADE – The McDade High School varsity volleyball team had its impressive 13-game win streak come to a halt as the Lady Bulldogs entered last week as the No. 7 ranked squad in the Texas Girls Coaches Association poll for 1A.
SMITHVILLE – The Smithville High School varsity volleyball team had a pair of thrilling five-set matches this past week as the Lady Tigers hosted Caldwell High School on Oct. 3 and stayed home on Oct. 6 for another 4A-District 22 match vs. rival La Grange High School.
The Elgin High School varsity volleyball team continued its 2023 season last week with 5A-District 23 matches on Oct. 3 hosting Georgetown East View High and Oct. 3 on the road against Pflugerville Connally High School.
SMITHVILLE – It was a much anticipated 4A-2 District 12 matchup last Friday night as the Smithville High School varsity football team competed hard against rival La Grange High School at Tiger Stadium for the Pink Out game. Unfortunately, the visiting Leopards got the best of the Tigers down the stretch in the second half as Smithville fell 36-21 to La Grange in the district opener for both teams.
