GEORGETOWN – The Elgin High School boys and girls varsity track and field teams competed April 3-4 at the 5A-District 23 meet hosted by Georgetown East View High School. The Wildcats and Lady Wildcats had several athletes qualify for the upcoming area meet by placing fourth or higher in their respective events.

The Elgin High School varsity baseball team had a successful past week as the Wildcats shut out Cedar Creek High School twice in a pair of 5A-District 23 games.

The Elgin High School varsity softball team fought for a massive 1-0 victory in extra innings Friday, April 5 over stateranked Georgetown High School as an RBI single by Gabriella Sandoval capped off a thrilling night for the Lady Wildcats.

SMITHVILLE – The Smithville High School varsity softball team picked up another 4A-District 22 victory at home April 1 as the Lady Tigers run-ruled Giddings High School 12-2.

BASTROP – The Bastrop High School varsity softball team picked up a crucial 5A-District 23 win on the road Tuesday, April 2 as the Lady Bears handled business with a 7-3 victory at Pflugerville Hendrickson High School.

Bastrop County varsity boys and girls track and field teams were in action this past week as Bastrop High School, Cedar Creek High School, Smithville High School and McDade High School competed at their respective district meets.

SMITHVILLE – The Smithville High School varsity baseball team picked up its first two 4A-District 22 wins of the season this past week as the Tigers swept Giddings High School.

The Elgin High School varsity baseball team lost a pair of close 5A-District 23 games this past week as the Wildcats competed against district frontrunner Georgetown High School.

CEDAR CREEK – The Cedar Creek High School varsity baseball team picked up a pair of 5A-District 23 victories this past week over Pflugerville Connally High School.

BASTROP – The Bastrop High School varsity softball team got back in the win column Friday, March 28 as the Lady Bears picked up a 7-0 shutout victory at home over Pflugerville High School.

AUSTIN – Area schools competed over the weekend at the Texas Relays meet held at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin. Elgin High School, Bastrop High School, Cedar Creek High School and Smithville High School all had athletes in action competing in their respective events.
