SMITHVILLE – The Smithville High School varsity softball team put together a strong first week as the Lady Tigers opened their 2024 campaign with multiple games.

BASTROP – The Cedar Creek High School boys varsity basketball team concluded 5A-District 23 play on a high note Tuesday, Feb. 13, as the Eagles beat Pflugerville High School 54-49 in the regular-season finale.

ALTAIR – The Smithville High School girls varsity basketball team had its 2023-24 season come to an end Monday, Feb. 12, as the Lady Tigers were defeated 56-37 by Houston Yates High School in the 4A bi-district round of the playoffs held at neutral site Rice Consolidated High School.

BASTROP – The Bastrop High School varsity softball team started its 2024 season off with a bang this past week as the Lady Bears went 5-2.

BUCKHOLTS – The Mc-Dade High School girls varsity basketball team went on the road Tuesday, Feb. 6 and the Lady Bulldogs concluded 1A-District 29 play on a high note with a dominant 63-29 win against Buckholts High School.

BASTROP – The Cedar Creek High School boys varsity basketball team continued 5A-District 23 play last week as the Eagles took on Georgetown High School and Bastrop High School.

The Elgin High School girls varsity basketball team concluded its season on a high note Tuesday, Feb. 6 as the Lady Wildcats celebrated senior night with a 50-39 district victory at home over Bastrop High School.

SMITHVILLE – Bastrop County boys and girls varsity powerlifting teams were in action Saturday, Feb. 10 as Smithville High School hosted a meet with area athletes competing in the bench press, squat and deadlift.

Elgin High School standout student-athlete seniors Courtney Shepard and Nathen Lewis put pen to paper Wednesday, Feb. 7 during the National Signing Day ceremony in Elgin. Shepard will compete in cross country as well as track and field at Angelo State University, while Lewis will play football at Texas A&M University-Kingsville.

The Elgin High School varsity basketball team continued 5A-District 23 play this past week as the Wildcats had road games at Bastrop High School and Pflugerville High School.

The Elgin High School girls varsity soccer team won its third district match of the season Tuesday, Feb. 6 as the Lady Wildcats were victorious 2-0 at home over Bastrop High School.

The Elgin High School boys varsity soccer team picked up its first 5A-District 23 victory this past week as the Wildcats blanked Bastrop High School 3-0 on the road.
