Elgin High School held the Elgin Athletic Hall of Honor Induction Ceremony on Thursday, Aug. 31, and also recognized the inductees on Sept. 1 prior to the Wildcats’ home football game vs. Austin Akins High School.

TAYLOR – The Smithville High School varsity football team got off to a great start on Sept. 15 on the road against Taylor High School but the Tigers could not keep up with the Ducks’ stout running game in a 49-19 loss.

HEARNE – The Mc-Dade High School varsity volleyball team won its ninth consecutive match on Friday, Sept. 15 as the Lady Bulldogs traveled to Hearne High School and won in three straight sets: 25-12, 25-15 and 25-20 to seal the deal over the host Lady Eagles.

The Elgin High School varsity football team had a tough night on Sept. 8 as the Wildcats were defeated 33-7 at home by the Rangers of Bryan Rudder High School.

SMITHVILLE – The Smithville High School varsity football team was defeated 33-13 at home by Geronimo Navarro High School last Friday as the Tigers hosted their Homecoming game.

BASTROP – This year’s Homecoming game was a very tough one for the Bastrop High School varsity football team as the Bears (2-1) lost their first game of the season 59-7 in a blowout defeat at Bastrop ISD Memorial Stadium on Sept. 8 to Round Rock Westwood High School.

PFLUGERVILLE – Multiple teams from Bastrop County were in action this past Friday as Smithville High School, Bastrop High School and Elgin High School varsity cross country each competed in the Pflugerville ISD Cross Country Invitational held at Northeast Metropolitan Park.

BASTROP – The Bastrop High School varsity volleyball team started off district play on a very high note as the Lady Bears swept Pflugerville in three straight sets on Friday night: 25-20, 25-21 and 25-17 to seal the deal.

GEORGETOWN – Elgin High School varsity volleyball began District 23-5A play this past week as the Lady Wildcats hit the road last Friday to take on Georgetown East View High School in the district opener for both teams.

It was all gas, no brakes for the Elgin Wildcats on Friday night. Head coach Heath Clawson’s squad steamrolled the visiting Akins Eagles 47-0 to earn their first win of the season, bouncing back from a tough loss to Lampasas the week prior.

TEMPLE – The Elgin High School and Bastrop High School varsity cross country teams were just two of many schools from across Texas that competed on Sept. 1 in the annual Pro-Fit Invitational held at James Wilson Park in Temple.

The Elgin High School varsity volleyball team enters a critical stretch of its season as the Lady Wildcats are about to enter District 23-5A play against tough opponents.
